Our Story
Windswept Safaris was born out of a shared passion for Kenya’s Maasai Mara and rich cultural heritage.
Founded by Shelly, an American globetrotter, and Samuel (Odie), a proud Maasai warrior, our mission is to offer unique and immersive safari experiences that go beyond the ordinary.We aim to create journeys that are visually stunning, culturally enriching, and awe-inspiring providing our guests with memories that last a lifetime.

Expert Guides with Unique Perspectives
With most companies you only have your driver as your tour guide. With us, you'll have two guides where Shelly's attention is all on you and making sure everything runs smoothly. If she is not already in Kenya, she will fly there specifically to be with you on your adventure.

Authentic Cultural Immersion
We go beyond just driving you to places. With Windswept Safaris, we can immerse you into authentic culture experiences. The Maasai is one of the few tribes in the world that still practices many of their ancient traditions. Since Odie is of the Maasai tribe, we have the option of visiting some of his family's traditional homes, hike "into the bush", have a Maasai home cooked meal, wield Maasai weapons (bows, spears, machetes), and visit some local artisan shops. These experiences are as real and enriching as they come.

Every adventure tour we offer includes a humanitarian gift, allowing you to contribute positively to the local community. We either take school supplies to a local school or give supplies directly to families in need. We want to leave a lasting impact, fostering sustainability and community growth.

Shelly
Shelly is an avid traveler from the U.S. with a degree in Global Studies (history, cultures, and religions of the world). She has worked for Delta Airlines and the public school system. Her travels have taken her to over 28 countries including India, parts of the Middle East, Georgia, the UK, New Zealand, Ukraine, and Japan. Her love for animals and photography, combined with her deep connection to the Maasai Mara, makes her an exceptional guide eager to share this magical place with others.
Samuel (Odie)
Odie is a Kenyan Maasai Warrior and Elder with over 12 years of experience as a tour guide. He embodies the traditions and knowledge of the Maasai tribe, which still practices many ancient customs. Odie loves photography, laughter, and showing adventurers around his homeland. His favorite pastime is exploring the Maasai Mara, and being on his family land in the mountains.
